Improve your speed, technique and fitness with this challenging running class. You need be able to run 8.5 minutes per mile or faster over a distance of 5 miles in order to join this class. The speed of current class members ranges from sub-6 to 8.5 minutes per mile.

School Holidays: Please note that this class combines with our later Running Class during all school holidays. This combined class caters for all abilities and starts at 6.15pm and finishes at approximately 7.30pm. During the holidays, the class is always at the Lakes Home Centre.

Improve your endurance running, technique and skill in this friendly class - as long as you can run continuously for 30 minutes you can join this class. Your current speed doesn't matter. Go on, give it a go, you're never too slow! Meet at The Lakes Home Centre car park, Low Road, Cockermouth. Please park at the Cockermouth end of the car park - thank you.

School Holidays: Please note that this class combines with our earlier Class during all school holidays. This combined class caters for all abilities and starts at 6.15pm and finishes at approximately 7.30pm. This class is always at the Lakes Home Centre.

Improve your endurance running, technique and skill with us. As long as you can run continuously for just 30 minutes you can join this class. Your current speed doesn't matter, you'll improve in no time at all! Meet at The Lakes Home Centre car park, Low Road, Cockermouth. Please park at the Cockermouth end of the car park - thank you. Join the class members for refreshments in the Lakes Home Centre after your run.

School Holidays: Please note that this class is school term time only. Join us on Monday or Thursday during the holidays.

Tiny Sam runMuster Run Thursday 6.00-7.00pm

Meet at The Lakes Home Centre car park, Low Road, Cockermouth. A variety of 'muster' routes around Cockermouth to suit a complete range of running abilities. So it doesn't matter whether you're currently a 'back of the pack' runner or a speedy sub-six minute miler. We split the class according to ability, so everyone has a great session. This is a fantastic way to 'tempo-train' in good company. We look forward to having you along. Parking provided by kind permission of The Lakes Home Centre.

This class is a great compliment to our Monday Classes and will suit those who can't make the earlier Muster Run or those who aren't yet quite fit enough to run continuously for an hour. The format is a 20 minute warm up and drills/games focus followed by a technique or speed development session.

  • £6.50 per adult per class
  • £4.00 per child or full time student per class
  • Save between 25% and 38% by paying for the term

This is your answer...

Running for Beginners:
A 10 week beginner's course timed to reach your peak for a parkrun or similar event of around 5K in distance.

First Class: Thursday 2nd November, 6.30-8.15pm. Note start time of 6.30pm and extended finish time: This is for the first class only.

Everyone is asked to join this first class, followed by our post run social event at the Moon and Sixpence on Main Street, Cockermouth. At the social, we'll answer all your questions and give you advice on how to follow your training plan, avoid injury and how to get the most out of your running.

Choice of days and times to attend:
Mondays 7.30pm: Starting Monday 6th November 2017
Tuesdays 9.30am Starting Tuesday 7th November 2017
Thursdays 6pm: Starting Thursday 9th November 2017

Please Note:

Whichever day(s) you choose to book, ideally we need EVERYONE at our first class on Thursday 2nd November, 6.30pm

No Classes Half Term: W/C 23/10/17
No Classes at Christmas: W/C 18/12/17 and 25/12/17
Final Classes: W/C 15/01/18

Venue: The Lakes Home Centre, Cockermouth

Course Fees: £70 for one class per week or £98 for two classes
Students: £40 for one class per week or £50 for two classes

Parental consent required for U16s
Children aged 11-14 must be accompanied by a fee paying adult, thank you.

Your lead coach will be Sam who is a Level 3 UK Athletics endurance coach and personal trainer. You will be advised on how to start running progressively and safely, given hints and tips on nutrition and injury prevention and provided with a training programme to follow together with e-mail support. Most importantly, Sam and her team will help, support and encourage you every step of the way!

BodyFit Blokes
A men only, 6-week pre-Christmas fitness boost.

What is it?
Activity sessions, outside in the fresh air, based around running or walking briskly if you can’t run yet.

You’ll be supported and encouraged every step of the way. Tony Jewell will be your lead coach, assisted by Andy Hayes and Ian Donnan. Tony, Andy and Ian are great role models and aim to help others keep active for life. All are England Athletics coaches or leaders.

Starting:
The first session is on Monday 6th November 2017, 6.15-7.15pm. This is for everyone and includes a post-activity social and Q+A session. You'll then have a choice of sessions to attend:

Choose from:
Mondays 6.15pm: Starting Monday 6th November 2017
Thursdays 7.15pm: Starting Thursday 9th November 2017

Please Note:
Whichever day(s) you choose to book, ideally we need EVERYONE at our first session on Monday 6th November, 6.15pm
