Firstly, thank you as ever to all who have attended our classes and personal training sessions over the past year. We wish you all the best for 2018 and look forward to working with you again soon.

The last day of term is Friday 15th December and the new term begins on Thursday 4th January 2018

There are a few 'Pay As You Go' classes on over the Christmas holiday period:

Our hall based classes cost £7.00 per person, running classes are £6.50 per person. The student fee is £4.00 for all classes.

If you'd like to pre-book and save money, please sign-up at class and pay before the end of term: £5.50. Please note: No refunds, thank you.

Classes: Spring Term 2018

The class booking form for the Spring Term 2018 is now on our website. If possible, please pay fees directly via bank transfer or PAYM. The details are on the booking form. You can of course still pay with good old-fashioned cheque book or cash.

  • If paying for multiple people by BACS or PAYM, please put the payments through separately; this makes working out who's paid for what far easier, thank you.
  • If writing a cheque for multiple people, please write the breakdown for each person on the back of the cheque, thank you.

Mobile Payments. Class fees can be made by mobile phone if your bank supports it. The mobile number for this is: 07805 094 701. See the PAYM website for further information.

If you wish to swap, change or no longer attend your class, please let us know as soon as possible, thank you. As ever, with any full class, priority always goes to those who pay for the term. Please see our updated Terms and Conditions for further information. Thank you.

BodyFit Cumbria Running Club

An update from club chair; Juliet Grieves.

We're pleased to announce that since the autumn launch of BodyFit Cumbria Running Club, we now have 34 members across a great range of ages, abilities and experience. Our plan over the next few months is to put on a few fundraising events to which EVERYONE is invited.

The first is a talk by Annabelle Allen this coming Friday 24th November, 7.30pm at Eaglesfield Village Hall. It's all about how keeping active and being sociable has a positive impact on our mental well-being. Annabelle is going to help us understand a little of what's going on in our brain, how it evolved, how things can go wrong and most importantly, how we can help ourselves and each other to put things right.

Tickets are £7.50 on the night or £5 for students. This includes refreshment (tea, coffee and homemade cakes). It'll be a very sociable affair, so do come and join us.

Running for Beginners: An Update

Our current group of Beginner Runners will be on Week Four of their training by the time you read this and will have just completed 4 x 6 minutes of running with a 3 minute walking break between each set of running. They've built up from their first session of 'run 1 minute, walk 1 minute' x10. Their aim is to complete the Workington parkrun on Saturday 13th January. Wish them luck! They are a very sociable group and are helping each other with their 'homework' runs too. It's always brilliant to see people achieving things for themselves that they never thought possible.

Our next BodyFit Beginner's Running Course is likely to be after Easter. Please don't hesitate to get in contact if you'd like to if you'd like to register your interest or if you have any questions. You can phone 01900 825974 or email. Don't feel embarrassed about asking 'daft' questions... and yes, the course really is for complete beginners!

BodyFit Blokes: An Update

Our NEW BodyFit Blokes sessions have proved to be very popular and the feedback has been brilliant:

"Tony and Andy were great getting the group going, working together and making sure everyone was happy with their own pace and energy levels. Having not done any group fitness before I was apprehensive about what to expect. Would it be too challenging? Would I get anything out of it? Or would I just look an idiot? After last night I'd definitely recommend it to others. There was no pressure, it was very welcoming and I felt I could do as much or as little as I wanted or could manage. Definitely looking forward to the weeks to come." Mark Holmes

It's not too late to join the rest of our Blokes. There a 3 weeks remaining until Christmas, so why not join in? It's a men-only activity session, outside in the fresh air, based around running or walking briskly if you can’t run yet. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please pass on the details.

The fee for the remainder of the course is £20 for one session or a bargain £25 for two sessions per week. This also includes social-media and email support and advice on injury prevention. Sorry no children under the age of 16.

Forthcoming Local Running Events

Below is a selection of a few races coming up locally. Find more by looking at the following websites: RunBritain, Runner's World and John Schofield's UKResults. Spread the word on our BodyFit Runners Facebook Group or on our main BodyFit Facebook Page.

  • 03/12/17: Ulverston Christmas Pudding 10K: Team BodyFit Event. We're going down en masse to this event. Use the BodyFit Runners Facebook Group to help sort transport to the event please. Entries on the day accepted.
  • 17/12/17: CFR Christmas Pudding Run: This race is on trails. All abilities welcome. A great trail race to do if you've never done one before. Approximately 3.5 miles, 460' of climb. No trail shoes? Wear an old pair of trainers instead. Proceeds to Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team. A Christmas Pudding to all finishers. A junior race is also available.
  • 17/12/17: 11am: Helvellyn 10K: RACE FULL. This is a fast flat 10K around the back of Thirlmere. Please email Phil Winskill if you've entered but can no longer race. Please share driving. Consider parking further away and doing an extra long warm up and cool down.
  • 13/01/18: Workington parkrun: Team BodyFit Event. Join our current group of Beginner Runners who will be doing their first parkrun. We'll be having a social afterwards in the either in the cricket club or leisure centre from 9.30am onwards. Remember to register before your first Parkrun event.
  • 21/01/18: Resolution 5K and 10K: A fast 5K or 10K near Carlisle. All abilities welcome. This race fills up quickly, so enter online rather than on the day.
  • 10/03/18: Lorton School 10K: Proceeds help to fund after-school activities for the children to enjoy. The usual excellent cakes and refreshments will be available to buy.
  • 22/04/18: Brigham School 10K: A 10K race raising money for Brigham School. A challenging but enjoyable 10K covering an undulating route.
